Dr. William Avonda
Dr. Avonda is an Optometrist in Alachua providing complete eye care services for the surrounding communities.
As a licensed optometrist, Dr. Avonda provides comprehensive exams, diagnoses, and treatments of all disorders that affect the eye or vision. In addition to being exceptional at assessing vision needs for spectacles and contact lenses, Dr. Avonda is also well trained and seasoned in treating and managing many facets of ocular disease. His experience includes many years of treating and managing ocular conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, dry eyes, allergy, infections and injuries.
Dr. Avonda works hard to stay current on the latest advances in eye health and vision care and regularly attends continuing education seminars and advanced training courses. It is because of Dr. Avonda’s dedication to continuing education that our Alachua patients receive the most modern and progressive vision care available.
Dr. Avonda graduated from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN in 2002. After graduating from optometry school, Dr. Avonda completed a residency in Primary Care/Geriatric Optometry at the ENR Memorial VA Hospital in Bedford, Massachusetts in 2003. Dr. Avonda continues to work in a busy OD/MD referral clinic, Columbia Eye Associates in Lake City FL, where he has practiced for the last 15+ years. He continues to see patients on a part-time basis at Columbia Eye Associates and increasingly at Alachua Family Eye Care as the practice continues to grow and expand.
